Student Advancement Policy at Khaled International Schools
In line with KiS’s commitment to helping all learners reach their full potential, the school has established a fair and transparent academic advancement policy based on the following criteria:
Kindergarten to Grade 2
Students are automatically promoted to the next grade at the end of each academic year.
Grades 3 to 5
Students are evaluated based on their performance in core subjects: Arabic, Mathematics, English, and Islamic Studies.
- If a student fails any of these core subjects, they are required to repeat the current grade.
Grades 6 to 12
Promotion to the next grade is determined by the following criteria:
- Achieving an annual cumulative average above 60%.
- Exceptions apply if a student scores above 60% overall but receives less than 60% in two core subjects and one elective.
Conditional Promotion applies in the following cases:
- If the student achieves a cumulative average of 60% or more but fails two core subjects, or
- If the student achieves a cumulative average of 60% or more but fails one or more elective subjects.
If a student passes some subjects and fails others, the school reserves the right to:
- Require the student to repeat the academic year, or
- Enroll the student in support classes for the failed subjects, as deemed appropriate by the school administration.
Failure to meet promotion requirements for any reason—including extended absences or non-compliance with school regulations—will result in the student remaining in their current grade.
Core Subjects by Grade Level:
- Grades 6–8: English, Arabic, Islamic Studies, Mathematics, and Science
- Grades 9–12: English, Arabic, Islamic Studies, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

Attendance and Absence Policy
All learners are expected to attend regularly and arrive on time for all classes.
Students must be at school before 7:20 AM to foster self-discipline and responsibility.
Daily attendance is part of the student’s evaluation, and absences and tardiness are recorded on the progress report at the end of each term.
Classes end daily at 2:00 PM.
If a student from Grades 1–12 arrives after 7:45 AM without a valid excuse, they will not be allowed to attend the first period and will wait in the reception area.
Students are responsible for making up missed lessons and assignments.
Accepted Absence Excuses:
- Personal illness
- Illness of a family member
- Death of a relative
- Religious holiday
- Doctor or dentist appointment
- Emergency circumstances deemed valid by the administration
All other absences are considered unexcused and should not be repeated excessively.
Parents are advised not to send their children to school when sick.
If a child has a fever or a contagious illness such as conjunctivitis, they may not return to school without a medical report confirming they are no longer contagious.

Students on academic probation may be required to attend mandatory classes or support sessions.

Repeated probation may result in denial of re-enrollment for the following academic year.
